2019 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2019 Nissan Rogue Head to Head: Safety

Every 2019 Toyota RAV4 comes with Toyota Safety Sense® 2.0 (TSS 2.0)24 standard. Let’s take a more in-depth look at the key active safety features:

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)2322 is designed to help mitigate potential collisions by using an in-vehicle camera and radar to help detect a preceding vehicle and, under certain daytime conditions, a pedestrian. If the system determines that the possibility of a frontal collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian is likely, an audio and visual alert is given. If the driver then applies the brakes, the system may provide additional braking force using Brake Assist (BA)28. If at this time the driver does not apply the brakes, the system may automatically apply the brakes, reducing the speed of the vehicle to help mitigate an impact or avoid the collision altogether. This feature is similar to the Rogue’s Automatic Emergency Braking With Pedestrian Detection.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA)20. This system will alert the driver under certain conditions if the vehicle begins to leave its lane. If Steering Assist (SA) has been enabled, the function may make slight corrective steering inputs to help the vehicle stay within its lane.

Automatic High Beams (AHB)18. This uses an in-vehicle camera to detect headlights or taillights ahead of your vehicle. The function then toggles between high or low beam lights to help ensure that you have an appropriate amount of light ahead of your vehicle. This is similar to the 2019 Rogue’s Intelligent Auto Headlights.

Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)39. This helps to maintain a preset distance between your car and the car ahead. DRCC can automatically slow your vehicle to maintain the preset distance and then detect when the vehicle ahead of you is no longer in your lane. It will then resume your vehicle’s speed. This feature is similar to the 2019 Rogue SL’s Intelligent Cruise Control feature, but it is not available on the 2019 Rogue S or SV.

    Next, we’ll talk about performance.

2019 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2019 Nissan Rogue Head to Head: Performance

If you want the most horsepower and torque in this comparison, you’ll get to know the 2019 RAV4. It has 203 horsepower and 184 ft-lb. torque. The 2019 Rogue only has 170 horsepower and 175 ft-lb. torque.

One thing Toyota is known for is fuel economy; the RAV4 maintains this legacy. The RAV4 LE (AWD) offers better EPA-estimated fuel economy at 27 city, 34 highway, and 30 combined48. The Rogue S AWD has 26 city, 33 highway, and 29 combined.

Do you enjoy driving on a bright sunny day? The RAV4 has a tighter turning radius, making your commute through town a breeze. It also has a higher ground clearance and lighter weight than the Rogue. With the RAV4, you can have fun in the city and off the road56.

The 2019 RAV4 offers more engine and drivetrain options than Rogue, and that includes the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid. Plus, the all-new 2019 RAV4 Adventure trim comes with even more functional features including Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive (TV-AWD). This can help you stay in control during many tough driving conditions.

Need to charge your phone? The RAV4 has a 120V/100W deck-mounted power outlet to keep the tunes coming as you command the RAV4’s startling performance. The RAV4 also has heated and ventilated front seats for comfort. To compare, no trim of the Rogue comes with heated and ventilated front seats: heated seats are available as an add-on option only to Rogue S or standard on higher models. Rogue also does not have a 120V/100W deck-mounted power outlet, but does offer three 12-volt DC power outlets throughout the vehicle.

Keep your Toyota running smoothly with ToyotaCare11. All leases and purchases of new Toyota vehicles receive free 24-hour Roadside Assistance for two years/unlimited miles plus no-cost scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles38.

Drivers wanting the same level of care for a Rogue will have to pay more. Nissan scheduled maintenance plans cost extra. Nissan’s 3-year/36,000-mile roadside assistance plan does not include towing of any kind. It offers fewer services than ToyotaCare.
